Pregnancy weeks by month chart

Are you wondering how far along you are in your pregnancy? Calculating your pregnancy progress in your head is a little mind-bending when you have to think in weeks, months, and trimesters.

It seems like everyone you talk to during your pregnancy goes off of a different scale and it gets confusing when you try to think it out.

In this article, we’ll explore the different ways to determine your gestational age and how to calculate your due date.

Whether you’re a first-time mom or have been through this before, this article will provide you with the information you need to answer the question: “How many months pregnant am I?”

How many weeks is a full-term pregnancy?

According to the Office of the Assistant Secretary Health(OASH) Office on Women’s Health a full-term pregnancy is 39 weeks after the first day of your last period. A full-term baby is still considered full-term until 40 weeks and 6 days.

A baby birthed 41 weeks to 41 weeks and 6 days are considered late term

A baby born 42 weeks after the first day of your last period and beyond is considered post-term

Two important facts to know when calculating your due date are the number of weeks to full term and the first date of your last period.

Any delivery before 39 weeks is considered pre-term.

Scientists and doctors previously recognized 37 weeks as full term, but since then, studies have shown that at 37 weeks, babies still have plenty of developing to do.

Those who have never experienced pregnancy before may have trouble understanding how far along you are if you tell them your weekly gestation progress.

So, to make it easier, we’ve broken down your weeks into months.

Is a full-term pregnancy 10 months long? Not exactly.

4 weeks is 28 days, but most calendar months are 30 or 31 days.

So a full-term pregnancy lasts 9 calendar months which equals 40 weeks.

The easiest way to calculate how many months you are in your pregnancy is to start at the month that your last period started and count the months from there.

It’s important to keep in mind that pregnancy weeks are counted from the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period, and not from the day of conception. This is because it is often difficult to pinpoint the exact date of conception, but the date of the last menstrual period is usually a more reliable marker to calculate the due date.
